Devizes Westminster Canoe Race

Loved these women. Like all the competitors, I could hear their conversation floating down the canal first, followed by the dip/splash of the blades and water, followed finally by their canoe coming into view. These two made it look effortless as they powered their way through the pouring rain.

I'm stunned by just how many crews raised a smile for me, considering the appalling weather and the 7am start. There's a cut of my favourite shots over on Flickr, it really was difficult choosing just one.

Today was the start of the four day event. The straight-through race starts tomorrow at 7am, I'm tempted to go again.
