Stone cross
On our way back we stopped at Dunchurch, a small town close to Rugby.
The picture is of the stone cross, built as a milestone in 1813 and set on a medieval base. Behind the cross is the Dun Cow (where we had a quick drink), one of two remaining coaching inns dating back to the time when Dunchurch was a staging post on the road from London to Holyhead. Apparently at one time up to 40 stage coaches could pass through the town in a single day.
