Pitlochrie Pool
The weather was starting to close in on Pitlochrie Pool on the river Tay today. By the afternoon it was raining .If you don't fish, hearing of a pool on a river can be confusing. A pool, after all, is something like a pond or small lake. On a river, however, it is the name given to a stretch of water where fish are caught. The river bed undulates with deeper and shallower parts and the pools tend to be the deeper bits. This is probably the biggest pool on Scotland's biggest river. Not many fish about. Gill lost one this afternoon. Pippa loved running up and down the banks. You can't see in this picture but on the bank by the water's edge, just behind the boat, a few trees had been stripped of their bark by beavers. It's not known just how many beavers are in the wild here now.
