Enlightening Day...

First official day of the Easter hols and I'm full of cold! Boo hoo!

Angie the super collie is providing cuddles... The lovely R is on a First Aid course till end of day Thursday... Not sure curing the common cold is on the syllabus?!

So my first day has been feeling rough as and sorting out my plans for September.

It's 13 years this year at the age of 26 I left uni to embark on a career in education teaching PE... The last 7 years I've been a supply teacher. It's had its ups and downs.. In that time I've grown years older and diversified in my skills and taught a number of subjects.

One of those subjects has been Science... I love it and with the government wishing us to be in employment till we're 68 for my age group the truth and fact leads me to be realistic in that PE is not going to keep me long term in the profession. If I want secure longevity in the job I do and love, I need to bite the bullet and attain the science credentials I need to go back to a full time post.

So today I have been on the phone to my potential not yet secured university who in principle have agreed to accept me into the 2nd year of a science degree specialising in Biology and Chemistry. Also I've pleaded my case and verbally secured tuition funding...the shocker was filling out a UCAS form, never thought I would see the day... In my day it was paper format and with everything now in the 21st century it's all done electronically... With tuition videos on how to fill it in and step by step guides! Enlightening how things have now moved on and how in the future my own experience of the UCAS system will help me with students in future years.
