Thank you Sam

Exactly 140 years ago, mr Samuel Plimsoll came with the idea to place a mark on ships sides to prevent overloading and thus fraude by shipowners. Basically the idea was to buy an old ship, load her to the max and beyond, insure her for two times the real value and send her out in wintertime from Liverpool or Glasgow to New York. Most of the time these ships never arrived and the owner claimed the insured value, being much more than her actual value. And of course the drowned crew wasn't a real problem for him, ships went down every now and then, you had to understand that. Mr.Plimsoll made an end to these crimes in 1875, ruling that all ships need to have a minimum freeboard which could be seen (and checked by others) on her sides. Nowadays, vessels are still carrying the Plimsoll marks, showing the max loadlines inTropical Fresh (TF), Fresh (F), Tropical (T), Summer (S) and Winter (W). On this mark, WNA is missing which stands for Winter North Atlantic. Without knowing it, Mr. Samuel Plimsoll saved and is still saving thousands and thousands lifes of seafarers.

By the way; BV stands for Bureau Veritas which is the underwriter of this vessel.
