Port Hamble Marina

Blowing a hooley this morning, chucking it down with rain again! After a reasonable nights sleep and breakfast, the four of us jumped in the car and set off on a reckie......to find a quintessential English pub that provides good food and ales for lunch with our visitors on Tuesday!

Hamble Le Rice was our destination, a picturesque village set on the River Hamble, with its windy streets, watering holes and gift shops......which all lead down to the waters edge and marina, where this shot was taken. There are hundreds and yachts and other vessels in the marina, including a fushcia pink "ferry" that you can board from the jetty, that takes people across the river to Warsash. The "ferry" is about the size of a large row boat and probably takes 10 passengers tops!!! You don't have to row mind you, it does have a small outboard motor and a Captain!

Even though the weather has been pretty awful, Hamble was surprisingly busy. We checked out the hostelry options, then decided it would be best to try and test the food and the ale, just to be on the safe side ;-). Having made our choice, which turned out to be a good one, a reservation for 10 on Tuesday was made, much to their delight I'm sure ;-)

We are now back at Sis and BiLs house, reading the Sunday papers, feeling rather full and contented! Looking forward to Poldark and Indian Summers this evening :-)
