Sunday Stroll

We decided to go for lunch at The Store today. Both Mr G and I had some lovely homemade soup and Katie had a wee pie and mash!

We then decided to go for a walk.. I didn't want to go to my usual places and fancied somewhere different. I've always been curious about a tower that stands on a hill in between Tarves and Pitmedden. It reminds me of a giant chess piece the rook. So off we went to see what it was all about.

I thought you could park up beside it but I was wrong. There's a wee carpark where you can park on and a track then leads you to the tower which is called Prop of Ythsie.

Once we reached it we climbed up the 91 steps to look at the views. It was a dull day but the views were amazing. You could see for miles.

The tower was built in 1861 as a memorial to the 4th Earl of Aberdeen. Must go back on a sunny day!
