Daffodils....

We've had the snowdrops and the crocuses and now it's the daffodils' turn to shine. They are everywhere at the moment, in people's gardens and along roadsides like in this picture.

These are the modified daffodils that we have developed to be big and showy. Our native daffodils, a much less in your face flower, are found in the deep woods away from places where they might cross fertilise with the showy garden varieties. Especially in the Lake District where they inspired Wordworth's famous poem.

It's Easter next weekend and it will be cool that the daffodils will be here for Easter Day decorating our gardens, homes and in churches of course.
