Wide Angle Wednesday - Spire, Inspire, Aspire

Here is my contribution on the Wide Angle Wednesday theme for today - "seeing the point."

This is one of two pieces of public art "the Spires" which were paid for by a nearby retail development. Details of the background to their installation and the subsequent controversy can be found here. In the bottom left you can see one of the many older spires (this one over 100 years old) in the vicinity and referred-to in the linked piece.

The words "Spire, Inspire, Aspire" are carved around the base. I guess that is the point they were trying to make.
