Sagrada Familia
My last day in Barcelona, and following on from yesterday's Casa Batlló, here's another of Gaudi's masterpieces - the Sagrada Familia.
We did a bit more sightseeing and then went for lunch at a great restaurant in the city centre where they had a 3 course 'menu del dia' for just under 10 euros, and that included a bottle of wine! The food was great too!
Then Chris had to go to work, so I jumped on the metro and headed up to the Sagrada Familia. I've heard a lot about it, and what an amazing place - it's hard to believe that the construction started in 1882 and they're still building it. I wanted to go up the tower to see the view, but the first available ticket was at 5.15pm and at that point I needed to be on my way to the airport, so I just bought a ticket to go inside.
I got to the airport with plenty of time to spare, only to find out the flight was delayed. So I bought a drink, and after a while went to check the screens as there hadn't been any announcements, only to see that my flight was boarding from a different gate! So after a quick dash, I got to the gate in time, and luckily I'd bought a speedy boarding ticket so was able to jump the queue.
It's been a great weekend, and was lovely to see Christina - hopefully I'll be able to repay the hospitality in Brighton some time.
