St Mary's Guildhall

Because I am trying to get more exercise, and get fitter again, I walked right down to the end of the High Street today. On the way I took this shot of the entrance to St. Mary's Guildhall.

It was built by King Henry II for the Christmas Crown-wearing ceremonies of 1157. Afterwards he used it to store his wine! It has since been a Guildhall, a school, an undertakers, a builders and a shop. Now it is owned and used as a base by Lincoln Civic Trust. There is a glass panel on the floor inside, revealing the remains of an old Roman road, complete with wheel-ruts!

Tonight we are going to the Engine Shed to see comedian Milton Jones - a particular favourite of Jae's. It will be good to do something with him!
