Effortless

I dreamt of an ocean
that stretched out before me,
it's easy blue coat
one I wanted to wear.
It promised a journey to take me away
from a hornets nest of damnation,
of vitriol, of political spite
and misery.
It was a pleasant delusion for a mind
so persecuted by the blood
of a lost partisan
compared to an island
that would set me free.
