Life goes on day after day
You very nearly got a Liver bird. I've got some smashing close-ups but I decided that you've probably already seen them a few times. This is the statue of Billy Fury - one of many Liverpudlian musicians.
I decided to travel to Liverpool today rather than leaving at Sparrow's tomorrow. I got here at just after five, checked in and took my camera for a walk. Wow! Liverpool is a great deal different to when I was last here (which is probably the best part of thirty years ago). The waterfront was full of people enjoying the wonderfully warm sunshine - I've got a Trucker's Tan from the trip here. There were skateboarders and trick cyclists and folk with ice cream and others with beer and wine. I watched the Mersey ferry leave; hence the title - the crew must be on danger money to cover hearing that a few times on each trip. I walked down to Albert Dock which looks so familiar from all those daytime TV programmes and I watched the Isle of Man Steam Packet catamaran head out. In 1979 I went by a far less high-tech member of their fleet to see the great Mike Hailwood win his last TT race and almost win the Classic in a duel with Alex George which lasted the entire race - he lost by 2 seconds. He was to die in a senseless road accident less than two years later.
So if I've got my sums right this is my 730th blip. I'm glad it's something other than an emergency blip - I've taken 160 images today so I knew I'd have something I liked!
Thanks for popping by over and taking a look - have a smashing evening and see if you can get "Ferry, cross the Mersey" out of your head before going to sleep tonight. Forza!
