It's maps that are "Descriptive of London's Poverty" created by Charles Booth are part of his "Inquiry into Life and Labour in London (1886-1903)".

Where? This is one small part of the mammoth Musuem of London where we'd taken Doreen as part of her mother's day celebrations. What a museum this is. We were there five hours, admittedly we did have lunch and a cup of tea but there is so much to see and take in that it would repay several days of visits.

The museum details, and I mean details, the whole story of the site that is now London beginning in the millenia before the Romans arrived and set up the first permanent settlement. The pre-history was fascinating and very informative but was just a prelude to everything else - each section was larger and had more artifacts than the last until we came to the Modern London gallery where we were able to say "I remember that...." And all for free, no entry charge. What a bargain.

Even free parking in our own reserved space as Doreen has a blue badge and by ringing up in advance were were able to book our own spot.

An interesting journey to the museum through the Blackwall tunnel and through the East End of London via the A13. The new and the old thown together in a great cultural mix. Good journey home but not for those going the other way as the anticlockwise section of the Dartford Crossing had two lanes closed owing to an accident and traffic was diverting through the Blackwall tunnel. Over 6 miles of queues.

It was a quick dinner when we arrived home. I'd done a slow cooker Beef and Ale stew from the Hairy Dieters cookbook so that was ready for us when we got in. Only had to peel and prepare vegetables and make a chocolate sponge pudding. (Only 5 minutes in the microwave rather than 90 minutes being steamed).
