Big birds
If you'd been there you might have though I was referring to the walking Elizabeth Duke display that took her place on the middle bench, jingling loudly and 'avin a fag' but no, I am referring to the residents of the falconry centre at Appuldurcombe House.
I thought Andrew might have waved the white flag today and demanded a quiet day soaking up the sun but no - he was keen to accompany me on today's adventure to the Isle of Wight Owl and Falconry Centre. Apparently Henry VIII came here in his time to 'do' falconry - presumably he didn't have to pay or wear a sticker! ;o) I have to admit my hopes weren't high but the displays were great and the guys giving the demonstrations were really engaging. Sadly can barely remember any of the fascinating facts as I was preoccupied with taking photos......sadly was a tad over excited and didn't check the settings so not the best results. There was a naughty vulture who kept stealing food out of the guy's bag which was quite funny. We went on to Godshill for lunch at a pub advertising itself as a 'man creche'. Ate far too much and came home for a lie down!
