Spaar en Hout
Spaar en Hout has a long history. In the eighteenth and nineteenth century it was one of the finest estates between Haarlemmerhout and the Spaarne river, from which it takes its name.
Of the three and a half acre complex approximately 1,200 m² is built, the rest is a characteristic park unlocked by this gatehouse and the stately residence looming at the end of the driveway. (btw this is a telelens shot making the driveway seem much sorter than in reality)
Around the end of the 1920's the estate was extended with two wings and on May 30th, 1930 opened its doors as on of the first care homes for the elderly in the Netherlands.
Have a nice Sunday!
