The old and the new

This morning the weather was not so good, rain and very windy so we wait to see what cyclone Pam will do (for those of you in the northern hemisphere a cyclone is a hurricane and this is the season for cyclones in the pacific) and we went out to the most astonishing place. The Tjibaou centre, this is a cultural centre designed by Renzo Piano and dedicated to pro independence Kanak leader Tjibaou. There 10 beautiful stylish structures joined together, each one featuring some part of Kanak or Pacific culture. In the front of the photo is a Kanak house, these are always round with tall thatched rooves and Piano's buildings in the background.
