An ornate part of Midmills building, Inverness. It has been an annexe of Inverness College for over twenty-five years, and is a lovely old building (in places).
As a Student in the mid 1980's, I was here occasionally for lectures. Back then the place was in a real state after several years of neglect. Some areas were out of bounds for safety reasons. Scaffolding supporting leaking roofs, and buckets everywhere in the worst bits. Highland Regional Council, of which the College was part of back then, had been unsure what to do with it. It was the location of the Inverness Royal Academy (IRA), for many years. They moved out to a new school, and then Culloden Academy used it for a short while, whilst their new school was built. The College took it over after them.
Workwise, I was based here for about eight years... well, in a sixties prefab building that's around the back. It had just been refurbished, and was a great place to work. Also handy for wandering into town a lunchtime.
Don't know what will become of it when the College's new campus is built.
