Heather time

I realise that while I've been anxiously awaiting the appearance of the classic spring flowers, I've been ignoring two lovely clumps of heather in the garden. Looked at from a distance, they are not as showy as the hellebores and clusters of crocuses, but low down and close up they are really striking flowers, especially against our old brick walls.
