An Experiment With Time
Boring grey day outside with the odd bit of wet stuff coming down. So I have been playing indoors today.
I recently acquired a piece of welding visor glass to use to try and photograph the solar eclipse in a couple of weeks. It only cost £1 including postage so can't really complain! Can't afford a big stopper so this will have to do.
Decided to have a go and see what sort of exposure was needed and what the quality would be like. Well this is the result - a twenty MINUTE exposure time at ISO 800 and f5.6 - you can see the movement of the hour hand and a vague blur of the minute hand from 8 to 12.
I converted to mono as the glass has a lurid green tint - and I haven't yet tried to correct the colour cast (if it is even possible).
The optical quality of the glass is not great (as expected) and obviously a lot of noise has been generated - but it has been fun - there' not much fun to be had for a quid these days!
