Homi K Bhabha
It's been a very interesting meeting on the future of the humanities here at Harvard. Our host was the postcolonialist scholar and critic, Homi K Bhabha. On Thursday evening, we were welcomed to his home for an evening of conversation and music - a quite amazing string quartet of undergraduate students of prodigious ability.
After the morning meeting on Friday, we headed into downtown Boston, and I freerode for the afternoon on a European studies conference taking place in one of those awful "downtown" hotels, where I met up with lots of old mates and friends. Great fun - a good panel on research closely linked to my own, a session in the bar with a variety of different friends and colleagues passing by, and finally a solid Vietnamese meal in the evening. Taxi back to the hotel.
