125th Anniversary of the Forth Rail Bridge

Opened on 4 March 1890, a 3,310 ft cantilever rail bridge across the Firth of Forth.  

This book was published for the centenary in 1990, a series of lectures organised by the Institution of Civil Engineers and the National Museums of Scotland.  

As part of the centenary events, we had the opportunity to walk onto the Bridge, to the first tower.  We then climbed the tower to view the first cantilever.  It just doesn't seem like 25 years ago.  I do remember it was very windy, and I was quite anxious about it.  A great experience though, with lunch at The Hawes Inn afterwards.
