Lali's World

My Quaich

I got this Quaich with my name engraved on it as a gift for becoming part of the Tasting Team at work. This is a promotion and it comes with a pay rise and a bit more fun at work as I'll be conducting tutored whisky tastings for groups from now on on top of my tour guiding job.

The word "Quaich" is derived from the Gaelic "cuach" which, in turn, derives from low Latin "caucus" - a drinking cup. It was a common domestic utensil which originated in the West Hightlands of Scotland, 'the dish from which the Scot supped his porridge and drank his ale'. It became the traditional toasting cup of welcome in Scotland or even good wishes upon farewell or parting and is considered the Scotland's Cup of Friendship.

A slow day at work, as it was rather quiet. Outside it was freezing cold!

Thanks very much for all your lovely comments, stars and hearts on my cake yesterday! I hope you all had a good day! :)
