We've had a large measure of rain in the past 24 hours. Not by English standards, I'm sure, but certainly a lot of wet for the desert of Arizona. We woke to puddles in our yard and on the street. The drive to the church for quilting this morning showed a lot more standing water in the neighbourhood. Some places looked like small lakes.
Unlike my neighbourhood at home, this area has no storm drains. There are no curbs along the roads to channel water. It just has to soak in or evaporate. Until it does, one must contend with puddles. Of course, this is the desert so rain doesn't happen often.
Our neighbours across the street have been having their roof replaced. We have followed the progress over the week. It is not a shingle roof like we'd see at home. It is something like an insulated skin that's rolled on like paint.
A garbage bin was supplied to collect the old roofing materials. We joked with them that we liked their new red pool. Today, the company came to collect the bin. He had to put a tarp over it first. He backed the truck up to it and dragged the bin up on the truck deck, then off he went into the sunset! Our neighbours have their parking space back.
