Fruit and Flowers - Singapore Style
Keen to fotograph the beautiful orchids so headed to the National Orchid Gardens. Weather was really hot and humid today - 95% humidity which took our stamina away so headed off to a garden centre and flower market area on Thomson Road. It was very interesting to see the sort of tropical pot plants that people put on their balconies and patios - lots on bonsai and multigrafted bouganvillias and potted orchids.
Found some Durian fruit (the famous large tropical fruit with a strong odour - about 9-12 inches and banned in hotels) and some banana mangoes at a Chinese fruit stall while doing some more shopping in Chinatown.
There was a short tropical downpour this afternoon which was lovely.
Off to the Jurong bird park tomorrow.
Our clothes are tighter and our wallets lighter - must be soon time to head home!
