Happy birthday daughter of mine

And the eldest turned 17! Definitely on her way out of childhood with one foot matching ahead with all its 'freedoms' and responsibilities and one that stubbornly stays behind, childlike - dependant and needy - but only when it wants to!

After a full on day yesterday exploring Durham University, I had to head to work but she arose before we left to gratefully receive her gifts - a new Macbook Air! There is little chance these days for students to effectively work without access to a computer and with a big family - one or even two Macs are not enough...so now she has her own - finally.

I rushed home later in the day to leave supplies for her friends coming over in the evening (we were taking ourselves out to the movies - Whiplash which was amazing). Then home around 11pm to some cake and teenager interaction...it seemed they had being having fun!
