Old and contemptible....
It was a slightly different Saturday. I fell asleep watching recorded Bear Grylls last night and woke up at 3am!
As a result I had the worst neck/shoulders I'd had in ages. Feeling lethargic and uncomfortable as well as knowing Frank wasn't out, I got the bus to Brum. One good thing about doing that is that it reminds me how lovely the rest of the world is.
Sorry!
I disappeared into the streets at the side of Snow Hill Station and went to a pub called The Old Contemptibles. The last time I'd been there was prior to seeing Ian Rankin doing a talk about his new book at Brum Library Theatre! That was the old library, not the new one which is no longer new and has cut the library open hours down and has made loads of staff redundant..... Progress eh?
Anyway, the OC's is a wonderful place to visit with its huge dark interior with high ceilings and winding stairs. The food is great and the choice of real ales is amazing. I stuck to the Russian Winter which was a lovely woody stout.
I headed home to watch The Voice before the evening crowds arrived.
That's it. I moved the sunflower heart feeder a little further around to annoy the squirrels but they still try....
Track? I fancy the Pogues tonight after my trip into Brum - Dirty Old Town
