Warm evenings

You'd think people who live near the sea would be taking their kids to the beach after school regularly, wouldn't you? But it doesn't seem to work out like that.

Time, weather, health, other commitments, homework, mealtimes, bedtimes, the shop, my studying... yadayadayada... The kids' age differences don't help either. Somehow it rarely ever happens. You're more likely to go to the beach if you don't live here, I think. (Yes, that makes sense!)
And yet again my plans didn't work out after school today (Gemma went to town and Joel had homework), but we did manage to get Tess to the beach this evening.

It's wonderful to have a bit of warmth and colour and activity in our life again after a crap spring in so many ways. Richard's been surfing and I've managed to get out and do proper walking grocery shopping instead of Internet shopping and even got carried away and bought myself some solar lights and new pyjamas ( I know!). The woman at the till said, 'I bet you only came in for oats.' How did she guess?
I bought oats to make flapjacks. I'm having another good intentions phase and am trying to keep Tess's hunger at bay a bit longer after school so she'll have tea with us instead of at 5 o'clock when we don't feel hungry. It worked!

I'm now wondering if the advice old bastards give you to give your child a smack when they're playing up has been misheard and is in fact 'That child needs a good flapjack!'

So not a bad day, all in all. Lovely warm weather. And I can't wait to go to bed and wear my new PJs. ;o)
I could do without being woken up by seagulls, rooks and jackdaws squabbling at 4.30am though. Bloody buggers.
