When a tour is not quite well a tour sort of

We woke on the Thursday my ankle still swollen from the fitness regime, had a quick bowl of Pho for breakfast at the lovely hotel restaurant.  Saw a hot air balloon and got ready for what was supposed to be an action packed day.  Ready at 9 am to be picked up and start some trekking.  We waited in the hotel lobby at 9:20 we started to try and get in touch.  After sometime we found out where our guide was (which was the middle of nowhere) got in the Tuk tuk and headed off.  To the bike shop, this started to seem not right as the guide didn't seem very clear on what was going on.  We picked our slightly rusted broken mountain bikes and hoped that the trail wasn't to tough.  Not to worry as we cycled on the main road out Vang Vieng with no helmets for 25mins.  This was not so much mountain biking as slow road cycling which we had to keep waiting for the guide to catch up.  We eventually arrived at the river via a small amount of off road cycling.  Where were offered to Kayak back to Vang Vieng.  After some strong discussions about the fact that this was not the trip we had booked we sort of ended up doing a kind of made up tour.  We set off after our kayak had been plugged with leaves so that it didn't sink.  We canoed for a while which was stunning and then pulled up, walked up a fairly steep track.  Saw a huge tree which people used to climb to get honey and then went down a very dodgy track with missing parts in the first cave.  It was dark and cave like but quite exciting.  We climbed up out up another very dodgy ladder which almost broke while climbing it.  We then had some lunch which was beef bbqed with a french stick. we ate it in the canoe which was enjoyable.  After lunch we canoed down to an organic farm which was rubbish I tried mulberry tea and wine which are both horrible so had a beer instead.  The organic farm marked the start of the tubing so as we started canoeing we offered some free rides to people in tubes and dropped them off at various bars en route.  We then went to our second cave which was not nearly as exciting as the first cave.  Learnt that people used to sleep there when the war was happening and had built a fire pit in the middle.  We then canoed back to Vang Vieng and had some food and a mango milkshake which ended our evening.
