Rock me, Amarylllis
We set off across country for Oxford this morning, across the Cotswolds, while listening to the final instalment of The Mayor of Casterbridge on CD. No one does misery like Thomas Hardy. Even Elizabeth Jane, the much overlooked anti-heroine, whose modest patience and forbearing triumphs in the end by securing her man, the new mayor Donald Farfrae, doesn't get beyond realising that "happiness is but a brief episode..." Too true, I fear, but let's hope the episode coincided with her marriage!
In Oxford we met up with blipper HerbSusan and her husband John, for the first time this year. After a lunch at a riverside pub, we headed off for the Oxford Botanical Gardens. I'd last visited them in summer https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/4505892. when there was more colour, but there was still much to admire and marvel at today.
CleanSteve and Herbsusan have blipped the gardens, too.

I've now caught up with all the blips for the previous week, in Dorset, Somerset and Gloucestershire. I'm up to date, woo hoo!
