Batemans

I visited Batemans in East Sussex, former home of Rudyard Kipling, with friend Sarah who has just had a hip replacement. We walked round the house and garden very slowly with Sarah on crutches and had a long lunch.

This is Kipling's study. Apparently the waste paper bin had to be emptied three times a day and the discarded writings burned because Kipling was worried about plagiarism
