Red Letter Day

Very much a red letter day for me as I left the house without a camera....Well obviously I had a compact and my phone camera... :-) but I decided to concentrate on looking for a new car for myself. That didn't go as well as expected as there are a myriad of choices out there and I know I am buying transport and not the car of my dreams which would be a jeep rather than a car. Having said that I've gone though €180 euro this week on petrol in my current fuel guzzler so time to be boringly sensible and get something I can get more mileage out of, even if I spend the same amount on fuel!! My choice so, rather than a jeep with high mounted exhaust capable of muddy, ploughed fields and steep mountain tracks with most likely be the Nissan Qashqai SVE 1.5 diesel... a safe run of the mill choice and I'll wear my wellies in the muddy ploughed fields.... Nissan say mpg is 74.4 while the more reliable Which magazine gives 58.9 and that'll be a big improvement from my Lexus 2.0 automatic. On a more positive note I'll get to do trips  to Sheep's Head down south to the Giant's Causeway up north without having to think too much about fuel...and that's a good thing... Sat having a coffee by the sea at Barnageeragh this evening watching the sun set and thinking I can now look forward to lots more setting suns on the west coast this summer....just saying
