Polmaise Castle

All that remains of Polmaise Castle is a heap of moss covered stones on the south side of Gillies Hill. This once grand residence was built in 1865  and had a relatively short life until in 1966 it was destroyed in a planned demolition, it having for years previously been neglected and in disrepair. The fallen remains of the entrance have1865 clearly visible.
