Red-tailed Hawk

I was heading out to Sauvie Island this afternoon, and found this red-tailed hawk along side the road.  I was lucky to get a shot as he took off!  Love seeing those talons up close!

The island was quiet...I was alone most of the time...not a lot of activity.  I did discover where the heron rookery is, which was fun to watch.  Lots of nests and heron flying in and out.  For more photos from today, visit my flickr page...
