Penny Bazaar
Opened in 1895 in the Grainger Market in Newcastle and still there . . . !
The world’s smallest Marks & Spencer store and the last surviving example of the Penny Bazaars opened by Michael Marks and Tom Spencer. They added the words ‘Admission Free’ to encourage people to browse with no obligation to buy. This was a concept unheard of at the time.
I think you can buy anything in the Grainger Market, but can you find your way out again?
