Surprise lunch

Friends phoned this morning to say that they were en route from the West Country to Heathrow, and would we like to go out to lunch with them? How could we refuse? So we took them to a favourite pub and had an excellent meal and a good catch up chat. They are on their way to see family in Boston where the weather forecast is for yet more snow.
This moss covered tree trunk was in the garden of the pub. Not surprisingly no one was eating outside!
