Can't wait till the Autumn
When I get back from work after the summer, this will be one of my Autumn projects, our new house.
Today I discovered that someone had pinched all the copper for the water pipes, which is a bit of a pain in the ass. Just means I've got a day coming up where I spend the day under the house putting it all back together with new stuff.
Which isn't as bad as it sounds. I'll get some advice on how it should work, but because I'll have rebuilt it it, I'll know it intimately. I can also introduce some changes as well, for instance a hot water ring to give every hot water tap instant hot water.
Plus I can lay the pipe work for the future 3rd bathroom that'll be installed in a couple of years. Whilst I'm under the house I can also take stock of the waste pipes as well. With 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 hot tub, and a washer outlet, there should be a fair number of pipes under there of differing ages and condition. I already know the washer outlet is broken for instance, but it'll be interesting to see how it handles grey and black water.
There is a huge amount of work to do with this house, and I think the rebuild cost is north of the purchase cost, but it'll be worth it. So looking forward to this project.
