The 2G Star

Every Friday the children in Olivia's class work in small groups to write about what they did during the week and produce the classroom newspaper. I always enjoy reading it to see what they've been up to. On the other side of the paper their teacher also writes what they have been learning and gives us any important information.
It was exciting to receive it last Friday as the big announcement was that Olivia had been selected as Student of the Week, starting today.  
The children in the class have to nominate someone and they have to give a reason why that person deserves to be student of the week. The teacher then selects the 'best' nomination with a little bit of her own judgement! Olivia has been waiting ages for this honour as each day they are allowed to take in something different to share with the rest of the class. On a Monday they take in something that is special to them and despite all our suggestions about significant memorabilia that she has she decided to take in her stuffed owl called Owliver! That's actually it's real name (according to the label!) and it's birthday is actually 10th July which is when Olivia was supposed to be born. We didn't realise this at the time of buying so I guess it is a pretty special owl to Olivia.
