Perfect Day for Playing Possum?
The Sun shone and the sky was a great colour as The Boss and ME set out this morning. It had been a memorable night as I had met my first Possum at 2.30 am and I was quick to tell The Boss, The Bossess and the rest of the neighbourhood about it.
The Boss was quick to point out that this was NOT in my job spec and I should return to sleep mode but it had gone up our tree and I was waiting in case it came down again. The Boss, looking dashing in his dressing gown, had me inside with all exits blocked in quick time and the rest of the night was quiet…Boring but quiet.
So it was with less than usual enthusiasm that we set out but it was a grrreat walk and we met some lovely folk.
I have a feeling that the pre-sleep routine may be different tonite.
Bug…r!
The last time The Boss had any interaction with a Possum was years ago in pre-T time. They had been on a farm property and there had been a midnight ruckus which had seem him with gun, The Bossess with large torch and The Possum obligingly running towards the light when The Bossess remembered that she had left the refrigerator door open (actually there wasn't one) and had to urgently leave, complete with the large light.
Lacking a well illuminated target the Boss declined to shoot and instead dealt Mr P a substantial blow on the head with the gun, breaking the stock and causing much hilarity at the gun shop when he was told that was not an approved method of possum control.
The Bossess was not available for comment but I believe that she has been demoted from the position of “Target Illumination”
Luckily he hasn’t got any firearms any more so it is entirely up to ME.
I am not however going to be allowed anywhere near Mr P again as it would endanger my curl insurance policy, he says.
