What to say about today? Unsettled probably sums it up. That's usually what happens after one of my sessions with my psychologist. Ridiculous really how difficult it is to be honest to another human being when they cross examine you on your progress back into the ranks of humanity, the self imposed pressure to gloss over, be selective, spin things into the best light is hard to resist. How to confess to the throat tightening, heart pounding dread that her suggestion of a simple goal brings on. A goal based on aspirations you have just professed.
A lot of this is the, probably inevitable, result of twenty years of increasing alienation but the thing that tipped me over the edge was the verdict passed on me two years ago by Ian Duncan Smith's minions at ATOS when, without seeing me or having access to a proper medical history, they found me "fit for work". Strange how the pronouncements of people you hold in contempt still bite so deep. I see that the UN has now launched its first ever investigation of a country for abuse of disabled people's rights, an investigation of the UK, of Ian Duncan Smith and his crusade against us. Apparently the UN sets an incredibly high bar in order to trigger such an investigation, there must be strong evidence of systemic, severe infringement ....that would be the UK alright. Of course it won't actually make any difference but at least someone has noticed what's happening, perhaps they could let the UK press know, they certainly don't appear to have noticed what's been going on. Every time IDS or McVey or Cameron smugly crows about "helping" disabled people by removing their benefits I am filled with the desire to see them behind bars. That'll be the day, our world is made for them, run by them, the inequality grows every day.
