Spoor of the Bookworm

By Bookworm1962

Up to the Nuffield again today. A wait in a strangely empty waiting room. I wonder how much of my life I've spent sitting in chairs like these, a fair bit. This particular waiting room is right next to the Hydrotherapy pool and its permeated with the heavy chlorine smell from the water. The thought of the warm, pain soothing pool, the gravity relieving freedom of movement, the quiet group suddenly rendered intimate and chatty by a shared swim in warm bleach is very beguiling, unfortunately that's not what I'm here for today. Instead I'm waiting to see my psychologist, much less fun. These sessions no doubt help but they're tough and I always feel emotionally drained afterwards. They say that "that which does not kill you makes you stronger"...bullshit, in my experience it just leaves you lingering and disconnected.
