Flute Caves
We took a trip into Abel Tasman National Park today. We drove to Keiteriteri and then got a boat which called in at various planned bays and gave us a good look at Split Apple Rock. We got off at Awaroa, where we could take a short walk to the Lodge and get lunch sitting in a delightful cacophony of cicadas and those other bugs that sound like electricity crackling under pylons on a damp day.
It's been a beautiful day and the water looks a delightful shade of aquamarine. The skies are great with fluffy white clouds in most of the shots. After we'd had lunch we walked back to the beach and sat on a fallen tree to enjoy the views. Suddenly, a tremendous wind blew up and we started walking back to where the boat would arrive. Once there, we sat and got sandblasted until the boat arrived. Of course this made the return trip a bit more choppy but I'm pleased to say that there were no return of Saturday's difficulties. I'm pleased with my return to being an Abel Seaman.
Once back in the car we headed back to Nelson and the heavens opened. It had been forecast so we were pleased to find it didn't arrive until we'd done the trip.
Sorry if you've had to return to get the journal entry. My internet connection is very poor so I have to upload then come back to edit and put the text in..
I hope your week's starting well.
