Happy Waitangi Day

An early start today to catch our 7am flight to Nelson, hire a car and drive to the start of the Abel Tasman National Park at Marahau.

Our journey started with a water taxi ride up to Awaroa. On arrival, the heavens opened so we decided to have a stop at the Awaroa Lodge for hot chocolate and lunch before starting the walk.

We made pretty good time, arriving in Bark Bay at around half 5/ 6. This was the longest day of the walk at 13.5km. After an improvised dinner, we attempted to complete more of the crossword we started last time before heading to bed.

I remember visiting Bark Bay with my sisters back in 2006 and finding the walk from Onetahuti really challenging. We had rewarded ourselves with a nice chill out on the beach and I took a picture very similar to this which I had blown up and put on canvas to give to my eldest sister as a present one birthday. Found memories can be found here.
