Sailing, Bye!
Just as CMC was about to pop a bit of buttered kipper in my mouth this vessel drifted past below us. It provided a slow moving cabaret for us. And indeed it did drift, for at first light the sea was very benign. The vessel headed towards Scapa Pier. Once my kipper was complete I was sent to clean out the girls’ bed in the Sheeps Hoose and renew their bedding.
I am away to have a lie down now as Kathleen and Dougal are coming for a meal tonight. Starter will be a leek and cheese soufflé, next is chicken cooked in garlic and oranges, with roast tatties, broccoli, carrots and cabbage creamed with garlic and a drop of Madeira. Pudding is lemon seed poppy cake. Then Madeira, port or: GlenDronach, Old Pulteney, Aberlour 12 yr old, there’s even a yet to be opened tin of Bruichladdich.
CMC has just informed me a part of the stove has come adrift, our tub of fire cement has dried up. I suppose this has to happen sometime in life. God Bless Mary Marquis.
