"Footbridge to Enchantment"
Nigel Tranter, the author who wrote many books including historical Scottish novels, used to walk across this bridge every day as he thought of his writing and called it the “Footbridge to Enchantment.”
The wooden bridge crossing the tidal Peffer River leads to the Aberlady Bay Nature Reserve which was designated as the first Local Nature Reserve in 1952. As a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its ornithological, botanical and geomorphological significance I never tire of visiting at any time of year and understand his description.
(This was also the place where we walked yesterday)
