Rustic Silo
A quiet drive down a country road, the sky is blue with long white clouds and some puffy ones to. The landscape is blonde with barley and wheat crops swaying in the wind.
Standing beneath the old gnarly macrocapa trees and amongst the long grasses is a rustic old silo with its varying shades of rust. It sits by an old battered barn open to the weather and not to far away I see a glint of light sparkling in the sun, it is a newer silo catching the light. The old and new not too far apart, the old rustic silo has more character and is my shot for Derelict Thursday.
There was a weather prediction for thunderstorms and rain arriving round noon, the temperature would drop and yes we were told not to be deceived by the sunny morning and don't put our washing out. Well......we've waited and waited with our eyes on the sky, our necks are sore, our eyes are squinted and our faces wrinkled from too much looking up, did the rain come.......did the thunderstorms do their thing,........no, not a single drop! The sky remained blue, the wind picked again up round noon and well........you know the rest.
I live on the east coast of the South Island, any rain Australia has seems to get our west coast a few days later but it just hasn't made it over the Southern Alps and now areas on the east coast are drought stricken, the landscape is brown, smaller rivers have dried up, larger rivers are just trickling, there are dust storms and fires, it is New Zealand's driest summer ever recorded for both the North and the South Islands.......is this climate change, probably.
Yesterday's blip is up if anyone is interested, not a good day for me but a little better today, although now feeling quite tired, thick in the head with sore runny eyes so probably not too much commenting if any tonight.
Happy Thursday everyone :)
And a lovely day with mum, walkingS, doing what we do best on a Thursday, grocery shopping, lunching, chatting and some blipping. You can see mum's shot ,here, one from her garden :)
