Testing the ice

Directly outside our hotel the ice is clear and polished. The hotel owner gets out with his dog to check that it is safe. He started by walking the ice and pounding it with his stick, then he got his skates on and put in some turns. The old dog was completely at ease on the ice and kept up with his every move.
