thinking time

It’s not much of a Blip. Sorry.

It’s Crosscountry Trains’ 10:17 to Penzance coming into my local station. For those challenged by UK geography, Penzance is 591 miles (945 km) away at the western end of Cornwall. A 10.5 hour train journey. Half way to New York, almost.

I was only going as far as Edinburgh. 30 minutes.

I had a meeting with Big Law to try to agree a settlement of some commercial disputes. After almost 2 hours of posturing on their part, we walked out. We were tempted to wave 2 fingers at them as we left, but managed to remain mature.

Of course Big Law’s objective is to squeeze as much fees out of a dispute as possible before agreeing to something which had been offered to them months before. I don’t play that game. I’d like to get disputes settled quickly and spend my time on more positive stuff. Oddly enough, that’s what clients want too. It takes two to tango, unfortunately.

On the train back I read an interesting piece on the BBC’s website (usually comedy value only) about Mavericks.

It made me think about the documentary Riding Giants, in which Jeff Clark appears.

The Waterboys’ song (an all time favourite) makes me think of Findhorn. Mike Scott of the Waterboys spent some time there.

That reminded me its time I “booked” a summer week in my cousin’s cottage in Findhorn - before all the good weeks are taken.

Findhorn

Another convoluted thought process.
