Full day
I am lying down. It is soooooo nice.
We got in at 3am ish last night. I've backblipped the crazyness of the past couple of days, including the awful car journeys! Saturday / Sunday
So this morning everyone was tired apart from Charley who had actually had the most sleep of any of us. Ben slept in, Charley wanted breakfast, Steve had to drag himself out to work.
I had a look at bus times while we had breakfast. We had some jobs to get done: supermarket, lego toy, post office; and I wanted to try and get them all done in one go. So after breakfast we hot-footed it down to the busstop. We really hot-footed it and congratulated ourselves when we made it! Bus to the supermarket, and our first pit-stop while Ben played on the icecream van. When I promised him that he could play some more once our shopping was done he finally got down! Shopping done with no meltdowns (that I recall anyway), quick call into the cafe for a chocolate owl and an eccles cake, and off outside to wait for the bus while Ben played on the icecream van again.
From the supermarket we headed into town to get the next lego installment. That was easy, and then a very nice man gave us his lego toy as well!! Ben had been having mini meltdowns all morning, and now they were getting closer together. Very tired. So we headed towards the post office for our final errand, and had to stop at a cafe along the way. Ben was convinced there was a train to play on near one shop, but I had no idea which he meant. Eventually I gave in and we went into the arcade bit and discovered lots of things to play on! Plus it was quiet, and there was a cafe, and there was lots of space to run around, AND the cup of tea I had was a good brew and proper cheap! My new favourite place :)
From the cafe we called in at the post office to pick up the latest poster print I've had done (it looks beautiful!) and caught the bus home again. School is along the way between the bus stop and our house and although Ben did Not want to go to school we managed between us to get him in. When I picked him up later he told me that he had been crying because he was upset because he didn't want to go to school. But we talked and he said he'd had a good time anyway! He came out smiling and happy, so that was good.
While he was at school I got ham cooked, finally cobbled something together to eat, shared a couple of crumpets with Charley and then collapsed on the sofa with him. Who then carried on sleeping when I got him back into the wrap to collect Ben and only woke up when we got home again!
The ham was enough for us and for some friends who've been ill over the weekend, so we had our after theirs had been collected. Ben hid behind the curtains and refused to come out while Joe was here waiting for the potatoes to finish cooking! He did eat all his pasta though. Charley enjoyed the ham. And the pasta. And especially enjoyed some giant blackberries for his pudding!! They were a HIT, he loved them. If I don't stop with the fruit, I may have a fruity partner in crime to actually make buying fruit worthwhile :D He likes kiwis, strawberries and blackberries so far. Banana isn't such a hit, too slippery. I cleaned him up a bit, took the tray off, and he spotted his (new) spoon on the table and lunged straight for it... nothing on it, but it helped clean up his face a bit with all the drool :-/
Bedtime proper soon. But I'm more hungry than tired right now!
