Anyone remember this?
When I first came to Munich for my UK employer who had just bought Germany's infamous chicken restaurant chain business, I was nicknamed "Chicken George". Have just checked out the English Wiki for the chain and seems much of the history is missing. The German Wiki scratches at the surface of what had gone on in this company which at one point had 1600 restaurants worldwide including USA and Japan.

Anyway within a very short space of time the UK board  realised there was no hope of rescuing a dead duck chicken and threw in the towel. I  took the "I'm staying" option, not in the company but in the country. That was also the end of nearly 20 years involvement in the hotel & restaurant business. Wienerwald has since made countless attempts to relaunch the handful of restaurants clinging on to old glory. One could compare the brand to Berni Inns in the UK which also belonged to the group as did Burger King, Wendy's.........

I still have irregular contact with my then finance boss who has moved on to better things via Burger King, Disney, Durex!!........and without fail enjoy getting his Christmas card, the first one to arrive every year. His office is actually not a million miles away and we have managed to meet up in Munich for a beer but that was now a few years ago. I have had great luck to have had great bosses, several of whom I then worked for at later dates in different companies. Rather nice in the  cut throat multinational numbers not names world.

Perhaps being a chicken farmer would have prevented me from running around like a headless chicken just at the moment -I did even photograph several today as they dug around in the snow hoping to find yetis and polar bears. The Bliped one was flying from one ice floe to another in the hope of spotting a basking seal. It was a beautiful sunny day and even Angie had a 5 minute sit down in a deckchair after the morning ride. The deep wet snow cut the ride/walk short. Neither horse nor dog Flash could cope with the snow forming massive ice balls.

I did manage a bit of snow clearing but kept it to the "must have" paths. I think it has snowed every night this week but just a bit 5-15cm each time. Individually nothing to bother clearing especially as it quickly compacts to a quarter of it's height being so heavy. Now these various levels have reached an annoying height and one has to be careful things don't suddenly get out of hand. Our hydraulic gates are now pushing the snow but once you do this it compacts to concrete and suddenly the fight between ice block and hydaulic 400V pump leads to hinges being broken.

So please forgive my terrible delays on replying and commenting. I will get around to it - many postings I have seen on the mobile but not the text - eyesight isn't that good anymore and the fingers much to stubby to try and text anything.

Have a great Sunday one & all
